Taraji P. Henson has inked a two-year deal with 20th Century Fox Television and will reprise the role of “Cookie” in a spinoff based on the Fox series “Empire.” Henson will both star and produce the series, which follows what’s next for Cookie.
Henson confirmed the news on Instagram about the Cookie-centric spinoff. “God is (good), ” using a prayer emoji and lots of exclamation points.
Henson has formed TPH Entertainment Company with Christine Conley at the helm. Henson and TPH Entertainment’s agreement with 20th will also include other projects for multiple platforms.
“I believe that normalizing stories around stigmatizing matters will make them more palatable for audiences to embrace.”
“Art can change perception and I plan to develop projects that can help further the conversation” Henson said.
The series will be penned, and executive produced by Danny Strong. Let’s hope this project goes to pilot.
