Born in the Capital, coastal town of Sav-la-Mar, Jamaica among the ruins of 18th century colonial forts constructed to keep out pirates, Kaaban El grew up rooted in reggae music. Moving to NYC at the age of 12 opened his eyes and ears to more diverse music, some of his inspirations include Damian Marley, Ed Sheeran, Gary Clark Jr. and Protoje.
Relocating to Florida he learned to play the guitar, bass, drums and keyboard and delve deeper into creating his own sound and style. Music has always come naturally to Kaaban el.
Kaaban El Da Carthaginian “Clock Of Destiny”, his debut self-produced EP is urban, thought provoking , free flowing and authentic with tracks like “Wolf ina Wool” which brings on the feeling of “psychedelic reggae” and “Honey Dew” with hip hop hints mixed reggae, his music is uplifting and socially aware.
The rising reggae artist has played various venues and spends most of his time in his studio honing his craft. His music and sound are ever evolving with his surrounding and the social issues of what is happening in the world today.
