Poetry Corner: Dreams

Dreams are not what we do while we sleep,

It’s the seed of what can become while we are awake.

Having a family, excelling in my calling and career.

Leaving a positive imprint on a heart,

Making an impact in the world.

Enlightening a mind, setting it free to fly.

I can sleep on it and wish it comes true,

Or make my dreams a reality by taking action and following through.

It’s been said, “Nothing comes to a dreamer but sleep.”

That is not an option for me,

Insomnia has kicked in.

Sleeping has cost me life.

A sacrifice I am no longer willing to give.

I am awake and I choose to become the dream, achieve, build and live.
