Murder Cannot Stand Trial

Murder knows no race, age, gender or religion. It does not know hatred or racism. It does not know the difference between right or wrong, nor can it think own its own, but today there are people in life questioning whether a senseless act of violence can be justified under a state’s law. How can we hold something accountable that does not act on its own intentions not knowing the purpose it is being used for?

Murder cannot be put on trial, the gun cannot face a jury of its peers for that much the bullet cannot testify on its behalf and be crossed examined by the defense attorney. Murder cannot call upon character, witness to speak on its behalf, nor can it recall its alibi on the night in question. When there is a life taken away there is so much evidence that is collected to gather the facts, and there are so many sides of the story to be told, but the side of the story that needs to be told is that of the victim, but they cannot tell, nor can we hear their story.

We live in a world where we have laws that protect us and give us the right to bear arms; however, those same laws and constitutional rights do not permit us to take the life of somebody because we do not recognize them in our neighborhood, the color of their skin, the type of clothing they are wearing and blatantly disregard the laws given to them by law officials who are sworn to protect us from others. How can we pass judgment on somebody else when we cannot judge ourselves in that same light we tend to pass over another? The bible say’s, “For whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.” Therefore for every action there is a reaction; you cannot escape the consequences of your actions, for when your time comes you too shall be judged.

The society we live in today has given us misguided conceptions simply because you own a gun does not give you the right or authority to shoot people as you see fit. We have converted back to the ways of the wild wild west where we shoot first and ask question later. In the bible it states “no weapon that is formed against you shall prosper; and every tongue that accuses you in judgment you will condemn.”

The weapon that is used to take away a life is not made for or intended for that purpose it is simply a tool just as a screwdriver and shovel is made for it is the intentions of that of the person behind the tool sets out to use it for. As it is simply put and has been referred to numerous times “guns do not kill people it is the person holding the gun that kills people.” So on that accountability how can we put murder, the gun or the bullet on trial for a crime it did not commit, nor did it set out to do?
