[dropcap]G[/dropcap]entrification, as defined by Webster’s Dictionary, is ‘the process of renovating and improving a house or district so that it conforms to middle-class taste.’
As “attractive” as this may sound, the problem with this is that it pushes the lower/working class out of the neighborhoods. Rent and mortgages become to expensive to where these people can no longer afford their place of residence and have to look elsewhere to live.
The unfortunate thing about this issue is that it effects the black population the most. Once again, our community is getting left behind. So, what will our community do to ensure that we are able to stay in ur neighborhoods? It’s time that we start supporting each other so that we can survive or we will be extinct.
