He is also the head of financial education at BankMobile; a digital app that provides a financially empowering banking experience to 2million+ customers.

I recently had the chance to interview Mr. Cash. Check out the interview below:

You’re an inspirational speaker, what influenced this passion in your life?

As someone who grew up low income in Harlem, New York, I was constantly told what I could and could not do in my life. There were very few people that I could look up to as a positive role model or people who were around to tell me that I had greatness within me. As I overcame many obstacles, I realized the importance of positive reinforcement and the power of Word, which lead me to wanting to help people realize their greatness within. In a nutshell, I wanted to be a voice for people who needed inspiration and motivation to live the best lives.

How did you get involved in television and radio personality work?

As I started to advice people one-on-one on their finances, the need arose to reach more people with this vital information. Radio and Television was the tool that I knew I needed to spread my message far and wide. I started out doing a lot of internet radio and blogs but eventually as I started to gain credibility in the personal finance space many major radio stations and TV networks started to reach out to me.

What projects and shows have you done in the past?

I have been featured on popular, national media outlets such as CNN, The New York Times, WSJ, American Banker, CNBC, TheStreet.com, Black Enterprise, Essence Magazine, Ebony, BET, Pix11 Morning News, Fox Business News, Hot97, Yahoo Finance, Money Magazine, Fox5 News, and countless others. I am also the host of my own radio show called, The Ash Cash Show which airs on WHCR 90.3FM NY with a current reach of 2.2 Million listeners. You can also find the show on iTunes, iHeartRadio, GooglePlay, Stitcher, TuneIn, Spotify or where ever you consume Podcast.

How did you get involved in financial coaching?

After having a long career in banking helping to advise high net worth individuals on how to manage and grow their money, I wanted to give back to those who couldn’t afford a financial advisor yet. This is what lead me into financial coaching as a way to provide high quality advise to those who need it most at a free or affordable price.

You’re a best selling author can you tell us your book writing portfolio and details?

I am the author of six books and three of them have been #1 Best sellers. My first book came out in 2009 titled, Mind Right, Money Right: 10 Laws of Financial Freedom, which went on to become a #1 best-seller on Amazon.com, Then I released my second book in 2011 called, Taylor’s Way: Life Lessons Learned From the Eyes of a Three-Year Old. I co-wrote this book with my three year old daughter Taylor. In 2013, I released What the FICO: 12 Steps to Repairing Your Credit which become my second #1 best-seller on Amazon. In 2015, I released a book called, The 21 Day Mind Right Money Right Challenge which aimed to help people change their money mindset to better manage their money. I then decided that I wanted to share the spiritual side of my life so wrote a book called, Mind Right, Life Right: Manifesting Dreams Through the Laws of the Universe in 2016, and lastly I wrote my third bestselling book in 2017 but released it early 2018 called, The Wake Up Call: Financial Lessons Learned from 4:44 + A Step by Step Guide on How to Implement Each Financial Principle.

So was writing the wake up call easier with your past writing experience?

Writing The Wake Up Call was definitely easier because I have been writing for so long and many of the topics I cover in the book are topics that I already had content on. It was simply a matter of piecing it all together then making it relate to what Jay-Z was saying in his album.

How did listening to Jay-Z’s 4:44 album inspire the book idea?

I’ve been a Jay-Z fan since I was a teenager so his lyrics have always inspired my life in one way, shape, form or other. The difference with the 4:44 album was that this time he was discussing a topic that I had many years of experience in, so when I realized that Jay-Z was giving us the blueprint to how to gain economic freedom I felt that it was my duty to pick up where he left off. In essence, Jay-Z was giving us the “what” but someone needed to give the “how” and that’s what I aimed to do with this book.

Do you have any words of wisdom you can offer the next generation of millennials?

I would say that the world is changing and it may seem at times that it is chaotic and potentially moving in the wrong direction, but realize that sometimes you have to take a step back in order to take a step forward. Everything happens for a reason so make sure you continue to stay in the light and keep pushing towards your greatness. This is one of the best times to be alive and those who continue to maximize their full potential will lead this world where it needs to go. YOU ARE THE CHANGE!!!! Nothing can stop you but YOU!!
