Imagine being a walk-on at Louisville – and just a few years later – being the go-to trainer for elite hoopers and celebrities like Blake Griffin, James Harden, J. Cole and Travis Scott. That’s the whirlwind adventure Chris Brickley has experienced.
But underneath the glitz and fame, there is a remarkable body of work, filled with determination, family and love for the game…mixed in with memories of how NBA legend and cultural icon Jason “White Chocolate” Williams played a significant role in inspiring Brickley’s journey.
Recently, Brickley invited Red Bull Hoops to Ink Studios in East Bronx as he looked to honor Williams with a new piece of ink and talk about the meaning of the art that envelopes his body.
“The first basketball player I looked up to was Jason Williams,” said Brickley. “His game was flashy and when I was playing, I played with a little flash with the way I handled the ball and passed. I always wanted tattoos because he had tattoos. I wish I could have worked him out during his prime.”
