Poetry Corner: The Sunken Place

You can’t identify slavery without knowing the chains,

A link to our history forever in my veins.

Slaves don’t know freedom because their mind don’t crave it,

Ignorant in bliss to the unbearable pain.

They’re comfortable in their ignorance of freedom,

Lacking knowledge of self entertaining illusions of fame.

The color of my face believed to be this country’s biggest disgrace,

Rebel or agree slavery is a choice own up and take the blame.
